Learn how to fish!

Bring the kids for a day of fun and learning at American Lake Park. Young participants will learn how to bait a hook, cast, and reel in a lunker. Children ages 5-14 can participate. Children get to keep their fishing poles. Poles, bait, and bags for your fish are provided!

We host the event in collaboration with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. A netted area near the beach is stocked with fish from our local hatcheries. Each kid is given their own pole to keep and enjoys a 60-minute teaching session. Additionally, bait and bags for caught fish are provided.

There are four sessions. Each session is one hour. Please arrive during the time you signed up to attend. This allows everyone space to fish along the beach, and ensures volunteers are able to assist.

Registration cost is $12. This includes a take-home fishing pole for all participants and at least one fish to bring home and eat. This event is for children ages 5 to 14.

Session times:

  • Session 1: 8 a.m.
  • Session 2: 9 a.m.
  • Session 3: 10 a.m.
  • Session 4: 11 a.m.
